There are more than 10 statutory holidays that, by law, I get paid for despite not working.
“Free” days, if you will. Long weekends and extra long weekends. Cause for celebration, according to tradition. Or the government. Or the way media portrays these days, and how that in turn perpetuates social norms and reinforces old practices that no one really knows the origin for.
But who cares because, “YAY we get the day off”.
